Ready-for-use 5 mW green positioning laser module "circle", complete set, with high visibility for integration into other machines. Adjustable focus, very high reliability and service life.
MediaLas positioning laser modules are small, well-thought-out, and powerful all-rounders. Our modular system enables a multitude of module variants, in order to always achieve the optimal results required each day in the production area. Alongside the extremely small dimensions, the primary aspect to emphasise is the high level of reliability which it achieves over a very long service life. Especially the 12mm modules are very easy for the user to calibrate and adjust for their respective application. Both the focus, i.e. the line width at the focal point, as well as the line position can be adjusted. This is quick and easy to achieve by turning the front brass ring, which also contains the optics.
We can optionally supply mounting pods for surface mounting to surfaces, ceilings, or walls. This is bolted to the base (with the included hardware) and offers an easy way to fasten the module to a surface from the front (see figure).
Our Design Department is always at your disposal to discuss customer-specific requirements.
LINE WIDTH
On our 12mm modules, the line width (also known as "focus") can be adjusted quickly and easily to the desired size or distance. The optics are mounted in the brass ring on the front, and can be adjusted very easily and safely with a fine thread. This makes it possible to adjust the line width to the technically feasible optimum setting for any distance desired. Once the desired line width has been located, the optics are secured in the thread with thread locker. We would be happy to set the focus to a predetermined value for you upon request.
VISIBILITY AND BRIGHTNESS
The brightness of the laser line is determined by many factors. As a principle:
- Line length: The longer the line, the lower the brightness, as the light output is distributed across a larger surface area.
- Laser colour: Green is significantly more effective than red or blue.
- Operating surface: The darker and more matte the surface, the dimmer the light appears.
- Ambient brightness: The brighter the ambient light, the dimmer the laser line appears. This is determined by the human eye, which reduces its sensitivity to suit the level of ambient brightness. In direct sunlight, it is very difficult to even recognise a laser line, as the retina is already saturated.
- Laser output: The higher the output of the laser, the brighter the laser line appears.
LASER SAFETY
The top priority for the use of line lasers in a commercial setting is laser safety for workers/operators. However, ensuring safety does not generally pose a problem, and is not particularly costly to achieve. Laser safety is something we deal with every day, which also makes us the right ones to contact when it comes to the classification of laser equipment. According to the latest guidelines in TROS (technical health and safety rules for artificial optical radiation), line lasers are so-called "extended sources" and can be treated more simply than normal bundled sources for point lasers.
In order to achieve laser safety, a line laser must be appropriately installed to a machine or device. As a principle: workers/operators must not be able to look into the laser beam right at the module itself. The module must be installed in such a way that it is mechanically secure, and cannot accidentally drop out or come loose, thus posing a hazard. For commercial operations, the laser equipment, i.e. the installed laser module and the associated, mechanical equipment, machinery, brackets, etc., must therefore be categorised in Laser Class 2.
You will receive further, detailed information with each delivery of our line laser modules and associated equipment. We are at your disposal and would be happy to advise in this matter.
EQUIPMENT/OPTIONS
The modules are equipped as standard with a high-quality, aspherical acrylic glass lens, which enables an excellent beam quality and focus of the laser beam. The module can optionally be fitted with a three-lens glass collimator. This primarily has an effect on the temperature stability of the focus. The standard acrylic lenses may alter the focus in case of larger temperature differences, which can cause a change in the beam width. Where the operating temperature in the module's installation location fluctuates in the range +/-5°C, an acrylic glass lens is preferable, because it offers slightly better focusing at short distances than glass optics, which in turn offer better beam characteristics in the long-distance range (>2 m). If, however, larger temperature fluctuations occur, the glass lens should be chosen, so that the focus does not shift.
Note:
Pay attention to the class of the laser!
