Galvo motor kit for 2D laser beam deflection in the X and Y direction with maximum precision and speed.
Ideally suited to any kind of precise and rapid laser beam deflection thanks to its high scan speed. The galvos are already fitted with dielectric flat mirrors and the driver electronics are calibrated to the galvos. The drivers provide a full-fledged floating earth symmetrical input as well as feedback pickup options for ScanFail systems. The maximum beam size must amount to no higher than approx. 4 mm. Larger mirrors up to a beam diameter (aperture) of approx. 6 mm are optionally available.
When developing the CTR-SET, particular value was placed on excellent repeatability, combined with fast step response.
THE GALVO MOTORS
The XY kit complete set consists of two fast, high-precision galvo motors, equipped with a highly reflective mirror and an integral position sensor, which supplies a precise position feedback signal to the driver electronics. The "moving magnet" design was selected in order to ensure the response times to the incoming signals are as fast as possible and to avoid any resonances in the axis system. The position sensor is attached to the axis end at the rear.
Due to the very high torque and the associated rapid acceleration of the galvo axis, the size, shape, and mass of the mirror has a significant influence on the function and positioning speed. These factors have been perfectly balanced out in this system, in order to optimise the precision and performance of the unit. The thickness of the substrate has been increased to 1mm, which significantly increases the resonance frequency. This results in an extremely rapid and high-precision closed-loop galvo system.
THE DRIVERS
The repeatedly tried-and-tested MicroAmp III is used for the control electronics. The PID servo controller interprets the feedback signals of the position sensor compared to the target signal of the input and transmits the voltages and currents to the motor necessary to reach the desired position are rapidly as possible. The high-speed control loop with integration link delivers excellent, responsive movement with the fast acceleration and braking ramps which are necessary for the fastest positioning movements and the lowest jump times. The damping links ensure that settling times are kept as short as possible.
On the driver itself, the axis movement can be inverted with a jumper. The inputs are designed to be fully symmetrical, allowing for floating earth actuation. This drastically reduces earth loops or interference. This makes it possible, with a two-wire cable, to eliminate interference, as the interference signals cancel each other out. The 8-pin connector provides all of the inputs and outputs for the driver. This is also where the connection is made to the power supply. Buffered position outputs also fed out of the connector.
The MicroAmps are relatively durable when it comes to overheating on the output stage. The integrated protection against overheating switches the output stage off if the temperature is too high, so that no defect occurs. To ensure sufficient cooling, the MicroAmp should be mounted to an adequately dimensioned metallic surface. The temperature on the back part of the heat sink should be below 70°C.
